The real dinosaurs were dead million years ago; People discovered the dinosaurs at hundred years ago and scholars made plastic Dinosaurs called T. Rex. Its first exhibition brought the dinosaurs’ pop-culture in the America. The dinosaurs are no longer match the characteristic they used to be. For example, the scholars preferred the great meat eater lives. They demonstrate T. Rex Dinosaur as predator even though T rex has weak vision and could not clap. My personally view that the scholar dis respect the way T. Rex Dinosaur used to be. They use their own interest to create the new image of the Dinosaurs. They treat the T Rex Dinosaur as an art work and manipulate the dinosaurs to the way they like and exhibit in the museum. As a result, the scholars blamed the ceiling of museum is too high and forced them to re-create the new image of the dinosaurs. In addition, after world war one, the well-known of T rex inspired so many people around the world to visit the first dinosaur displays. This shows that human beings have more desire to pursue the art work than the beauty of its nature. Later on, the dinosaur image appeared in the business field. People invented dinosaur trading cards, the first dinosaur stamp, an explosion of comic books etc. The new image of dinosaurs greatly spread in the social media and in the population. People know the extinction of dinosaurs, but they don’t know the natural of dinosaur. All they can see is the conversion of dinosaurs. I Personally don’t like scholars use dinosaurs as tool and create a new kind of culture.

  2. Dinosaurs are like most phenomenons, where we continue to marvel them as something that was here before us. Today we are able to see dinosaurs in our everyday lives. Dinosaurs are famous for their being able to roam around the world one minute and be extinct the next moment. Today, this is something similar to us where we are alive one minute and dead the next minute. In the movie “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” Harry Hart (Galahad) said that a gentleman is only famous and should be in the newspaper at birth, when they wed, and when they die, which is something similar to dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are all famous for being alive and dead. The T-Rex in general is a dinosaur that tries their best to accomplish what they set out to do, this being a carnivore and eating others to survive. Like most politicians that we see today in the US, this is usually the case. We see many politicians coming into the media to talk about the goals they have and how they would try to do it, but as soon as their ideas are shot down, they fade away and then return with a new idea in the future. Recently there have been many politicians trying to run for presidency in the upcoming 2016 election. The one that recently came up is Ted Cruz, a senator from Texas who is being shot down by most politicians. But not only do people become famous, there are also many ideas that are put out there and are publically like internet trends where they come up in popularity and die over a period of time.

  3. Dinosaurs are a popular phenomenon in part because they were alive in the past and only exist as fossils, figurines, and sketches today. Another reason why the topic of dinosaurs is so popular and crosses everyone’s mind is that since they are no longer alive, we have many unanswered questions regarding their lives. The phenomenon has caught on so much that movies have been made as portrayals of what people see dinosaurs as, whether that is the truth or not. Another intriguing part about the death of all the dinosaurs is that they all died in a mass extinction which makes the matter even more eye opening. All of this ties in with the authors point about the questions surrounding the tyrannosaurus rex and the decline in popularity lately. Despite what the author is saying I believe that most people think about the t rex when they first hear the word dinosaur, at least I do. The t rex has been the face of dinosaurs, as the author puts it, the Mick Jagger of Dinosaurs. For the time being dinosaurs will be what we think of them as and what assumptions we can make based on what we know about dinosaurs from fossil evidence.

  4. I have not seen any movies about dinosaurs but I thought that I knew everything about T.Rex. This creature often appears in ads, it is printed on clothes or food products, many children have toys-dinosaurs. I thought I knew a lot about T. Rex’s appearance and his aggressive behavior. It is definitely the most popularized dinosaur in the world. All the information regarding his body shape and actual nature was surprising for me. The fact about his arms being short, I already knew that. However, the way the author described it was hilarious. He compared it to having two hands growing out of nipples. I was not disappointed while I was reading the article because I am not a dino fan. Instead I was really amused. On the other hand, there are people that sincerely believed that the T. Rex was a terrifying predator. According to what Hitt was arguing these people would be shocked to hear this, because it seems that the T.Rex was not the dinosaur that most people believed him to be. I think there are many other popular things in the world that can be interpreted in many ways, however that doesn’t make it necessarily true.

  5. Thinking about it dinosaurs are totally American. I remember being 7 and forcing my cousins to watch Barney with me. In a way Dinosaurs are still around and very much popular. During my middle school day we would visit the museum that show case so many dinosaurs. Even movies are still made about them to this day. The most popular dinosaurs would have to be the T.Rex. In movies this dinosaurs is always the most vicious and ruthless dinosaur. According to this article even the way the T.Rex walks is different than what is shown in movies. He waddles. I can not imagine what is suppose to be the most terrifying dinosaur waddling, I mean I would think the fact that it has short arms makes it hard for people to sell the T.Rex image of being so terrifying. But by the looks of the article I feel like I could probably take down a T.Rex by just tripping it.

  6. Its really interesting to think about this idea. We weren't around during the time of dinosaurs, we have no idea what their behaviors were like, or even what color their skin was. All we were given were their bones, the rest we had to take "educated guesses" on. And these guesses became the basis for many things in our pop culture today. I remember growing up and dinosaurs, a thing I believe most young boys loved. I mean, a giant lizard that roars? It was awesome! But its weird to know that we didn't ever really know what these dinosaurs acted like. Based on things like Jurassic Park, the general population was trained to believe that the T. Rex was dangerous and carnivorous. But the T. Rex had short arms and the size of it's teeth can't be the sole determination of it's lifestyle. Just because the majority of people believe something, it becomes the mainstream thing to believe, and is the generally accepted idea by most people. This article really bashes the T. Rex, so it kind of changes my entire perspective on things that look menacing. Most things have weaknesses, and the T. Rex seems to be no exception.

  7. Dinosaurs are probably one of the few species that went extinct millions of years ago but are still often talked about today. People of all ages know what a dinosaur is no matter if they’re five or 50. Young kids grow up with the purple, singing, dancing dinosaur called Barney and learn about dinosaurs from a young age although no one can really be sure how accurate of a representation this could be. I remember watching The Land Before Time movies when I was younger and watching a group of dinosaur kids become friends and go on adventures. Adults tend to get sucked into the Jurassic Park movies which I remember watching a few times as well and there are even video games based around dinosaurs. I guess they might be so popular nowadays due to how little we really know about them. We can use information archeologists have gathered paired with our own imaginations to try and figure out what the earth could have looked like 65 million years ago. Most people just assume that the T-Rex was a carnivorous beast that took out anything in its path and that’s how it’s portrayed in most dinosaur movies. Obviously the guy who invented Barney thought differently because Barney is a T-Rex but acts totally opposite of what is thought of as normal behavior. This just goes to show that we need to use our imagination to assume what dinosaurs were like because no one will ever really know.

  8. I like how they compared dinosaurs to American superstars that disappear and remerge every once in a while and the made the same comparison of our paleontologist to dinosaurs. The article itself had a good feeling of what they were trying to portray simply because of how they talked about the scientist and America. The way they disappeared in media and then remerge every so often was a good analogy in how America power was seen at those times and sets up a good pattern of interest for America. In the same fashion of the T rex where it’s seen as a very powerful hunter and then as a weak scavenger. America was the height of society at the 20’s and then not so much as we went into wars that weren’t so successful. Just like that the wave of interest in dinosaurs was analogous to the waves of power in American society.
The second comparison of dinosaurs to scientist made it seem like they weren’t just studying them but they were them. Marshite’s and Copeans could almost be made to be two competitive types of dinosaurs that coexisted and competed for prey, which was dinosaur bones. This sense of comparison made the essay more enjoyable because it enabled a link on which to see the dinosaurs. As we compete for land and power so had they and that really tied the article together for me.

  9. Dinosaurs have been a part of American culture for quite some time. One reason for our fixation on them, I think, is because of their size. Dinosaurs supposedly came in all shapes and sizes but most of which were much larger than the human frame. The little guys don't get as much publicity as the big ones do. When the first dinos were on display in England officials set a dinner table inside an iguanodon. INSIDE! At that point it would've been difficult and even frightening to imagine a creature of that size roamed the earth before humans. We are still fascinated by this idea of colossal creatures so they constantly pop up in our lives. DinoLand USA, a section within Disney's Animal Kingdom, is a perfect example of this. Tourists walk through this section of the park and pass under a life sized brontosaurus and gaze upon other dinosaurs. "DINOSAUR" the ride, appeals to the idea of what it would be like for these creatures to be alive today. Riders take a trip back in time and get chased by a Carnotaurus, making sharp turns and exiting drops to avoid its attacks. We just can't get enough of these situations that put us at the feet of the largest creatures to walk this earth.

  11. One cannot deny the fact that dinosaurs have become a social phenomenon as they can be viewed throughout the media. Dinosaurs as well all know have been extinct for millions of years, but despite their death, they are still rather popular in present day. One possible reason for why people are so fascinated in dinosaurs is because they dinosaurs are somewhat mysterious to us; though we do have some information about them, we are never 100% sure about them as no humans were alive when the dinosaurs were still roaming the earth. It is interesting to see how the media has caused society to have two different viewpoints of dinosaurs; on one hand, dinosaurs are portrayed in movies as dangerous creatures, as they are constantly associated with the destruction of human civilization, but on the other hand, dinosaurs act somewhat like “companions,” as they serve as toys to children and other media forms to entertain us. In the end, the way one perceives dinosaurs is based on how they were introduced to the creature; some may view dinosaurs as fascinating creatures, while others may be horrified by the ancient reptiles.
